Beginning Knitting

Learn to knit using the English method (throwing with the yarn in the right hand). We will cover a basic cast on, knit stitch and purl stitch. Pre-registration required.

Shadow Knitting a Scarf

  In this class, you will learn how to shadow knit a scarf. We will cover the tricks on how to shadow knit, how to read patterns, how to finish edges and how to design your own patterns. Must already know how to knit, purl, cast on and cast off.

Dancing Stars Hat

 

Learn how to do 2-color knitting making this hat. In this pattern, Anne Caroll Gilmour has incorporated a 4-color chain. Must already know how to knit, purl, cast on and cast off.

Multi-Colored Yarns - Design and Knnitting

  Variegated yarns, hand painted rovings, the eye candy of the fiber world. Such potential in the skein, so many pitfalls on the knitting needles. Spend a half-day exploring the world of multi-colored yarns and ways to avoid or mitigate srtiping, color pooling and other disappointments. Learn how to design or select a yarn and how to bring out its full potential in a knit project. Students must know basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl, bind off).

Knitted Easter Baskets

  We will create an Easter basket that can be felted or left plain. You will learn how to get different results using a variety of yarns. These work up very quickly and several can be done in time for Easter.

  • Materials: Bring 16" size 13 circular needles, 1 skein 100% wool worsted weight yarn, 1 skein novelty yarn. Pattern will be provided.
  • Pre-requiesite: Must be comfortable knitting, purling, casting on and casting off.

  Learn to make lace while knitting a gorgeous sampler scarf by local designer, Mary Tripplet! We will learn various stitches as well as how to read charts.
